Yesterday we were lucky to be Music Garage’s Band of The Day .
Music Garage is a hourly/monthly studio practice space, recording studio, repair shop, etc. in Chicago. They have been great to with setting up practices while we’re looking for a new space in Chicago. We had a lot of fun shooting this video, hopefully have fun listening to it!

This week I will be releasing a small live EP of a show I did on 1/25/2013 at 8AM performance space in Chicago. It’s run by Matt Arbogast of The Gunshy and on that evening I was lucky to play with some really awesome musicians.

The EP will not be the most glamorous set, but it’s something I’ve been listening to and feeling good about. I know it has primarily new songs on it, some of which will be on the next album. I can’t lie, I’ve been reluctant and weary of that. However, maybe it’s time to give them some light, even if it’s just some acoustic performances.

Hello! I don’t have tabs but I do have chords, it’s a very simple song.

Tuning is standard tuning except the highest string is tuned a step down from an E note to a D. That isn’t too important though, it’s only for when I let the higher strings ring out in the second half of the song.

Verse:
D and G

Chorus:
B minor, D, and G

All of them are played on barre chords.

If you have anymore questions or need something like a video detail I am more than willing to post one, just let me know!

Preparing for more tracking this weekend with Spenser. Lots of squares to fill. Our bass auditions went well, should be deciding soon. We’re also most likely leaving our practice space, which means a good 3 months of time wasted on waiting for their business license to get renewed during the Winter. Oh, the world is cruel.

Anyway, we’re around. There’s some possible solo sets I’ll be playing soon, and hopefully we’ll be out and about with more shows by the end of Winter. All in due time, as usual.

Two DED acoustic recordings to be released in the next week! HOLY COW!

In the next week you’re going to hear two new acoustic recordings from DED that were recorded in the past couple months.

The first one will be on a digital cover compilation for Artistic Integrity Records which will feature a Jawbreaker cover that has been long overdue on my part. It will also feature these other bands doing covers: Kind of Like Spitting, Wide Angles The Please and Thank Yous, Brickmower, John Perrin, Costanza, Devon Kay and The Solutions, and more.

This comp will be available for Free on 1/1/2013 at Artistic Integrity’s website.

The second one will be an acoustic original (yep, first song on wax in roughly 2.5 years) on A Caustic Acoustic, a digital benefit compilation for Bucket O’ Blood Record and Books. You will hear other unreleased tracks from: Sean Bonette (AJJ), Little Dave Merriman (The Arrivals), Jon Lewis (The Dopamines), Annie Strong (This is My Fist), Nick Woods (Direct Hit!), and more.

Some updates, patches, comp recording, bass auditions, etc.

Hello everyone! It was a dreary day in Chicago today but also oddly beautiful. Hope life is good where you’re at in the world.

This is just a quick post to make a last call on patches as the stencil is nearing its end. These patches are FREE and will be mailed for FREE as long as you use them! They are hand printed by yours truly thanks to Jo Ann Fabrics and Stephanie’s natural talent in stencil making.

In other news:

1. We’re currently in the process of getting “professionally made patches” and new stickers/buttons in the upcoming months. Those will cost money, but you know, not a TON.

2. I will be recording a cover song for a free comp to be released via Artistic Integrity Records. I believe it should be released by January 1st. We’ll post it when it comes out. If you’ve seen me play solo then you’ll probably know what I’m covering.

3. The second recording session we’re doing is going to be in early February. I’m hoping to get the rest of the guitars/bass done, and hopefully vocals as well. It’s a slow process, but it will be worth it.

Tonight, after a month an a half, Steph and I sat down and talked about the upcoming year for Dead End Days. It was the usual: I made a Powerpoint, she crunched figures, we had late night pizza, and we talked about how the people in HR tan too much.

Just kidding.

Anyway, we DID talk, and we’re finally ready to start bass player auditions (It’s only been like, what, 7 months?). Please send any and all inquiries to Mikekillroad@gmail.com. We’ll send you all the info you need. We are doing them over the course of January, so there is more than enough time to get ready to go.

As for our plans in 2013, we are looking toward finally getting merch, increasing our shows around the Midwest (and possibly the U.S. for that matter, gasp!), and putting out the next album accordingly. Not to mention, a billion other plans as well. Should be a good year!

Hey guys,

We’ve been hibernating so far for Winter.

Here’s some updates:

-We recorded drums/guitar in October. I’m currently writing out parts to finish up extra bass/guitar tracking. So far it’s sounding pretty awesome..

-Maryam Hassan took some pictures during her stay in the U.S. Here are some of the live ones. She’s a pretty rad gal.

-We’re going to be on the lookout for a new bassist soon, possibly another guitarist. We’ll keep you posted.

Hey everyone,

We’ve been hibernating lately. The summer (ironically) does that sometimes.

We come bearing good news though, we can finally confirm that we’re going to start recording in October at Mystery Street Studios. The recording will be engineered by the talented Spenser Morris. if he sounds familiar, then it’s probably because he mastered our last album in his bedroom. Spenser has a wide range of experience from metal, to punk, to jazz, etc. and we’re really excited to be working with him. We’re ready to get things moving along again, along with playing shows and adding more members.

As for the scope of recording, we’re planning on recording 5 songs total and slating for a release early next year.
