Premier issue of zine of a different color is finished! The bulk of the run were sent off to the band (Dead End Days) and I sold a couple via Etsy which was a happy surprise, so I held onto 2 copies in case anyone else wants one and can’t stop by a show. In case you’re one of those people, you can grab a copy for yourself here.
While not every issue is going to focus on bands, I had a lot of fun with this idea and am totally open to recommendations on bands to feature in the future. Like with this issue, I would send the bulk off to the band itself to give away or sell at their live shows with their other merch.
We have 20 copies of this Dead End Days coloring book that was made by the lovely and talented Lacie Turcott of Bootsyville Press. No lie, she asked me some stuff about our band and then asked me for my address. A few weeks later these showed up.
We have 20 of them, if you want one for free just message us on Facebook or email Mikekillroad@gmail.com
Solo set at 8AM on 6/8/13
Here are two videos shot by a good friend that goes by the name of Jerry Cola. It’s from the solo set I did at the ever so lovely 8AM performance space in Chicago. It’s great little attic venue and on this evening I played with Lil Dave Merriman of the Arrivals and Jason Smith and Jon Olsen from Rad Payoff and Sass Dragons.
As usual, please share this if you dig it.
Chicago Hope:
Coming of Age Movie:
In other news, I finished two sessions for the album about a week ago, and it looks like we’re playing our first show as a four piece at Township in August, should be a good time, more details TBA.
I am playing a solo show at Underground Lounge on June 29th with The New Lows as well. Here’s the event link.
Music Garage BAND OF THE DAY
Yesterday we were lucky to be Music Garage’s Band of The Day .
Music Garage is a hourly/monthly studio practice space, recording studio, repair shop, etc. in Chicago. They have been great to with setting up practices while we’re looking for a new space in Chicago. We had a lot of fun shooting this video, hopefully have fun listening to it!
Quark Magazine Interview!!

Mike did an interview for Quark Magazine’s Strangely Charming segment. It discusses the upcoming album, the writing process, and other interesting musician tidbit type stuff! You can check it out here.
Also, please like Quark Magazine on Facebook, it’s a rad magazine and covers a whole realm of topics, from culture to science to media and so on. They also make a weekly Spotify mixtape which is also awesome as well!
Live at 8AM

This week I will be releasing a small live EP of a show I did on 1/25/2013 at 8AM performance space in Chicago. It’s run by Matt Arbogast of The Gunshy and on that evening I was lucky to play with some really awesome musicians.
The EP will not be the most glamorous set, but it’s something I’ve been listening to and feeling good about. I know it has primarily new songs on it, some of which will be on the next album. I can’t lie, I’ve been reluctant and weary of that. However, maybe it’s time to give them some light, even if it’s just some acoustic performances.
Anyway, I will be releasing this on our bandcamp for free at http://www.deadenddays.bandcamp.com
Here’s a Track listing:
1. $2,000 Worth of Fireworks
2. Limbo!
3. A Political Song About Cassette Tapes
4. Do You Still Hate Me? (Jawbreaker cover)
5. “Play Glycerine!”
6. Life in the Malebolge
7. Chicago Hope
Hello! I don’t have tabs but I do have chords, it’s a very simple song.
Tuning is standard tuning except the highest string is tuned a step down from an E note to a D. That isn’t too important though, it’s only for when I let the higher strings ring out in the second half of the song.
Verse:
D and G
Chorus:
B minor, D, and G
All of them are played on barre chords.
If you have anymore questions or need something like a video detail I am more than willing to post one, just let me know!
