What a week it has been! Here’s some updates!

So, in the span of 7 days we came to some conclusions and experienced some new things here in DED. Here’s a recap:

- Stephanie purchased a beautiful Yamaha Tour Custom set and custom Tama snare. After a couple of practices, she’s starting to get the hang of the sound, and it’s looking like our drum tracking is going to be huge.

- I’m only buying new amps from here on out. My Deville will most likely be out for the count, and I might have to explore options. I will get the word in the next couple of days. The verdict isn’t looking good, to be brutally honest.

Here’s how awful it is (TURN DOWN YOUR VOLUME A LITTLE BIT).

- Stephanie likes John Bonham so much that she looks up his drums parts when she plays something similar to him.

- I wrote a song to the same descending scale as “ABC” by the Jackson 5. That song is now tarnished in my head forever (c’mon c’mon c’mon c’mon let me show you what it’s all about). Both songs are fun, so hey, why not?

- We were able to finish a full song and structure it in about 3 hours. However, on another song, it’s been two practices and it still feels sort of weird. We’ve barely gotten through it. That’s what I get for liking musical stops, tiny melodic transitions, and song keys that I can’t sing in very well. You take the good with the bad, right? Maybe? No? Okay.

-Almonds and cranberries are the greatest practice snack even though I spit chunks of almonds out when I sing. I would feel bad for Steph because I sing facing her, but she threw a banana peel at my face one time during practice in January. Payback! Wooooo!!!

Anyway, we practiced about 15 hours this week. We’ve made progress. We practice this Wednesday, only to make more progress. We keep talking about ideas, creative approaches, and stylistic decisions. It’s cohesive, but we both have our own input in different areas. We even recorded a video of one of the songs and I might put it up.

We’re one month away from recording, we’re stoked.

Until next time,
-DED.

We won’t be around for a while, and we’re a two piece again.

Sadly, after the past two months, we have departed with Liam as our bassist. We wish him the best of luck and hope the best for him. We appreciate all of the work and help he’s put in with Dead End Days. However, sometimes things don’t pan out and changes happen.

As for Steph and I, we’re not playing any shows till after recording. We still have 3 songs to work out and preproduction needs to be intense. We will be looking for a bassist and second guitarist after recording, but as for now, our creative process is to make these songs come to life.

My solo EP is also panning out well, but will mostly be on the back burner until after recording. Lots of plans, lots of patience, and lost of persistence. Within due time, friends, within due time.

As always, if you haven’t downloaded our last album yet, do so here for free:

In other news, after this show, we’ll be set in our reclusive state preparing for our studio recording in June, it should be a good time, we’re really really excited. I’ve been working out the lyrics for the last couple songs in the past few days and I’m really stoked to see how all of them work out and fit together.

Speaking of recording, last night I did some home studio stuff for a song that will be on an acoustic compilation for Bucket O’ Blood Record store.

Rad times, rad times.

We’re a 3 piece band again!

For about 2 months we’ve been working with a bassist by the name of Liam Doring who helped us out with the show at Schubas. Today, he’s officially a part of our band, serving as a great musician and overall very nice person (and uses his cell phone a lot, as you can tell by the picture). We’re very happy to have as a band member and we’re looking forward to our future as a three piece!

Playing Schubas! Fundraiser!

So, in a interesting turn of events, we are playing with Bitch on March 13th at Schubas here in Chicago. We can’t explain how excited we are to play a rad set and have a great time. If you’re curious, yes, we will be playing with a bassist and yes we will also be playing a new song or two from the upcoming album.

Secondly, if you’re on Facebook, check out the Fundraiser we’re hosting

We want to hit 1,000 downloads by April 15th and also help fund our next album. If you download and donate any amount of money, you will make the thank you section of our next album. Invite your friends, enemies, neighbors, relatives and FB pages you’ve made for your cats and dogs (if you happen to roll like that).

So far, since last week we’re up about 45 downloads and we’ve made roughly $40. That’s a great start and we’re hoping to continue it.

That’s about it for now, we hope your weekend is great.

Thank you all so much for the support.

-DED-

Make the thank you section of our next album.

Here’s how:

1. Go to http://www.Facebook.com/DeadEndDays
2. If you don’t like us already, do that.
3. Find this post (it’s the most current, but we will keep updating till April)

4. Share that post.
5. Download the album if you haven’t already.
6. Listen and enjoy.

That’s it. I will be making note of all the “shares” until mid April. If you want, you can even send me an email at Mikekillroad@gmail.com to double make sure you’re on the list. We’re currently at 548 downloads. If we hit 1,000 we will put your name in the “Thank You” section of our next album.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE FACEBOOK:

1. Reblog this with an audio upload of one of our songs that you downloaded from here: http://deathtofalsehoperecords.com/downloads/dtfh098.html

We can’t explain how appreciative we are at this point. We aren’t the biggest band in the world, but the fact we’ve gotten so much support thus far has been flattering. This would only help us and provide us a way to thank those in direct support of what we’re doing.

This will end April 15th.

Thanks again,
Dead End Days

Show cancelled (sorry!)

So, we were supposed to play with our friends Mindfish and That Saturday on Feb. 24th, however we are unable to do it. Between sickness, gear falling apart, no bassist, and preproduction for the album,  we just had to cancel. It’s something we hate doing but it had to happen.

However, we will be prepared for our set in April at Red Line Tap for the CAKE Chicago set in April. We are planning on showcasing 3-4 songs off the upcoming album, should be fun.

In the next couple of weeks expect some video of a song/interview via Punktastic.com, some audio of rough demos, and hopefully a video declaring the set up of our Youtube account. Here’s a screen shot of how many demos we already have of some of the new stuff. My digital recorder has been working overtime as you can see:
